This Is The Best Form Of Exercise To Improve Sleep According To A New Study And Anyone Can Do It From Home

Poor sleep is a problem many of us face, but according to new research, it could be solved by completing this 30-minute exercise twice a week. Not everyone is blessed with the ability to conk out the second their head hits the pillow. And these people need to be a bit more strategic with their sleep. For some, this can mean taking magnesium supplements, while for others it’s limiting caffeine, reducing screen time, or doing some pre-bed meditation. We all do what we can to get the best night’s sleep possible. There are also things we can do during the day to help ourselves sleep better at night. And according to new research, there is one form of exercise that could be the answer to all our problems. According to the study, this exercise works better than all the others. And thankfully, it’s not some rogue, impossible-to-complete workout: it’s high-intensity yoga. Following yoga, the next most effective workouts were walking and then resistance exercises. However, some previous studies have suggested that other exercises are more effective at helping you sleep. These inconsistencies could be due to how a person would categorize ‘high-intensity yoga’, as there are so many different types of yoga that vary in pace, difficulty, and so on. For example, another previous meta-analysis found ‘aerobic exercise’ had the greatest effect on better sleep (but again, aerobic exercise can involve so many different forms of movement). While the recent research didn’t identify why high-intensity yoga can improve sleep, previous research has shown many benefits of yoga that could play into this. For example, yoga can regulate breathing, which could contribute to better sleep, while yoga also has stress-relieving benefits that can help you drift off more easily. For other people, diet can change the way you sleep, as can taking supplements such as melatonin. However, it’s always best to consult your GP for help if you’re struggling to get enough sleep.
