Rajasthan Man Sleeps 300 Days A Year Due To Rare Disorder Dubbed As Real Life Kumbhkarna

Pukharam, a resident of Bhadwa village in Parbatsar division, suffers from a rare disorder called Axis Hypersomnia which makes him sleep for 20-25 days at a stretch once he takes a nap, Pukhram was diagnosed with this condition 23 years ago and, since then, it has affected his daily life as it gets difficult to wake him up once he falls asleep. Axis Hypersomnia is a chronic neurological sleep disorder that leads to daytime sleepiness and/or long sleeping hours for over 9-10 hours in 24 hours, Gradually, his condition aggravated and his periods of sleep increased and now he sleeps for 20-25 days a month,” his family members were quoted by ANI as saying. He said that despite taking medication and sleeping excessively, he feels fatigued most of the time and experiences no productivity. His other symptoms include severe headaches
