Pediatricians say a mix of flexibility and consistency can help babies rest well even during celebrations. The festive season is a time of happiness, family gatherings, and endless celebrations. But for parents of infants and toddlers, it can also mean disrupted sleep schedules, noisy nights, and overstimulated babies. Experts warn that while it’s natural to want to be part of the festivities, keeping a baby’s sleep routine consistent is essential for their mood, growth, and immunity. Setting up a mini quiet zone in a corner room, away from the main celebration, can make a huge difference. Dr Sikka suggests maintaining a few familiar rituals that signal it’s time to sleep, such as dimming the lights, humming a lullaby, or reading a short story. These cues help the baby understand that it’s bedtime, even if the timing shifts slightly during the festive rush. If a nap gets delayed due to visitors or travel, it’s okay to adjust the timing a bit,” she adds. “But skipping naps completely should be avoided, as overtired babies often find it harder to sleep at night.
