Himachal Pradesh Give Your Eyes Six Hours Of Sleep Keep Your Mobile Phone Away AIIMS Bilaspur Warns People

To keep the body healthy, good sleep is also needed, like a healthy diet and exercise. Blue light emitted from devices like mobile phones, laptops, and TV disrupts the production of the melatonin hormone. This hormone is necessary for sleep. Due to the changing lifestyle and increasing dependence on mobiles, people’s sleep is getting affected. Due to this, not only physical health but also mental health is deteriorating. Dr. Poonam Verma, Additional Professor of Physiology Department of AIIMS Bilaspur, has warned about the importance of sleep. He said that sleep is not just relaxation but a process of repairing the body and mind. Ignoring it can lead to serious diseases. Dr. Verma said that sleep is divided into two parts. Non Rapid Eye Movement and Rapid Eye Movement. Non-rapid-eye-movement sleep has three stages, in which muscles relax, body gets repaired, and energy is stored. It is essential for our memory, immune system, and body development. During this time, heart rate and respiration slow down, which helps in keeping the heart and blood pressure stable. Nowadays, sleep-related disorders are also increasing rapidly among people. These include insomnia, not being able to sleep or repeatedly waking up in the middle, breathing stops during sleep in sleep apnea, excessive sleepiness during the day in narcolepsy, and restlessness in the legs in restless leg syndrome, which affects sleep. Sleep and wake up at a fixed time, keep distance from mobile-laptop one hour before sleeping, avoid caffeine and heavy food at night, keep the bedroom quiet, cool and dark, do regular light exercise during the day, do not workout at night, do yoga and meditation before going to bed, avoid stress.
