Trying to understand the basics of a newborn’s sleep is a big challenge as their sleep pattern differs from that of older babies. Thus, it becomes important for parents to understand their sleep cycle. Newborns can sleep up to 18 hours a day during initial weeks after their birth. Their sleeping pattern is spread out during the entire day. However, they do not sleep more than three to four hours at a stretch. This can be tiring as you need to feed and comfort baby many a time during their naps.
