Noisy breathing in babies is due to narrowing or obstruction either in the nose, larynx or the voice box. Noise emanating from the nose is called stertor and noise emanating from the larynx or voice box is called stridor. Laryngomalacia is a common cause of noisy breathing in infants and the symptoms can be difficulty in breathing, no weight gain, etc. Treatment can be done with the help of fiber optic laryngoscopy and it is a safe and quick OPD procedure.
