Sleep Patterns In Infants

So it is normal for a newborn to sleep anywhere between sixteen to twenty hours in a day. The sleeping time gradually decreases as the babies grow. By three months, a baby is sleeping for about fourteen to fifteen hours in a day, for about 24 hours and this comes down to about ten hours by the time the baby is six months and juts about 9 to 8 hours anywhere between 12 to 18 months of age. As babies grow for more two years their brains are developing fast and want to explore more and just store everything that they see or hear or feel and so they are more awake in the day time. A mother may feel that she spends an hour or so trying to put her baby to sleep and then the baby is up in hardly fifteen or twenty minutes and this is how it is. Babies do take short naps and then during the day time they tend to sleep for 4 to 5 hours at a stretch.
