Why My Baby Is Not Sleeping Through The Night

They’re waking every 1–2 hours, again. You thought you were past this stage, but the nights somehow feel longer than ever. For many babies, frequent night waking happens because they haven’t yet learned how to link sleep cycles. If your baby needs feeding, rocking, or contact to fall asleep, they’ll usually look for that same support every time they stir overnight. Sometimes it comes down to day sleep. Going to bed overtired, or even underfired, can cause broken nights, which is why getting the right balance of naps and age-appropriate awake windows matters more than most parents realize. And yes, sometimes it really is hunger. Even at 6, 8, or 10 months, some babies still need a feed overnight. The hard part is knowing whether your baby is genuinely hungry or waking out of habit. Throw in regressions, developmental changes, or a routine that’s quietly drifted off track, and suddenly sleep feels confusing again.
